About the artist
Simon Aberle was born and raised in Millicent, South Australia and moved to Adelaide when he was 11.
From an early age, he was interested in art and found inspiration from his father, artist Ross Aberle, to pursue his own art journey.
He never really took his art very seriously despite an obvious unique talent, until the age of 30 when he randomly decided to pick up a sketchbook and a pencil. Little did he know what would rapidly develop over the next 20 years as he became a professional full time artist.
Simon has sold work all over the world and has participated in various exhibitions and won awards.
Statement from the artist:
“Art to me is an expression of your true self, your soul. When I create a portrait, l am tuning into the subject's essence and personality, and connecting with who they are, not just how they look in the reference photo. Only in this way can I create art that really depicts a person's interior as well as their exterior, thus portraying their essence as well as their physical appearance.
My greatest reward for what I do is to see people's reactions to my work and to share an intimate emotional experience with another human being.
I have so much gratitude for my talent because it really is the gift that keeps on giving.”
